- Maruti Suzuki India Ltd which is also well known as India’s largest carmaker on Jan 2012 announced that they ready to raised prices of all its cars barring the entry-level sedan, Dzire, by Rs 2,400-17,000.
- The price of the SX4 was the least affected, going up Rs 2,400 per unit. The biggest hike, of Rs 17,000, was on the diesel variant of its New model " Swift ", which has a waiting period of over 8 months.
- Maruti had warned of the price hike last year 2011. That hepls to gain in its shares, they gained 10.48% on the Bombay Stock Exchange at Rs 1,109.95.
Reason:
- Price raised due to the impact of rising input costs and adverse foreign exchange fluctuation in the last six months,” the company said. The Dzire was left untouched as Maruti is set to launch a new smaller version next month.
