SRM University: First Private University to Launch Satelitte

Main Points:

• SRM University will become the first university in INDIA to launch a nano-satellite.
• Also become  the first private university to launch own  satellite.
• Salellite Named  to SRMSAT.

Purpose:

• Satellite launch in order to monitoring the Green House Gas emissions in the region : as per  university said.

•  SRMSAT also be tracked by the ISRO tracking service from the first week of its launch. and the data collected by the satellite , used for non-profit scientific research and development.

Team Size and time Period:

• SRMSAT known as nano-satellite: planned about two years ago.

• total 52 students working on its research and development with experts from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

COST of Project :

• It was built at a cost of `1.5 crore.

• Students of the following streams like Computer Science , Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, IT and backgrounds worked on this project.

Univ. Agenda:

The university agenda is centre for space technology on its campus.
