• Mount Kailash, believed that it have been formed 30 million years ago when Himalayas were in their early stage of formation, is one of the most revered places in the Himalayas.
• Mt. Kailash, 6,740 m.  situated , north of the Himalayan barrier, wholly within Tibet.
• This is a perfect mountain with awesome beauty, with 4 great faces.

• Tibetan plateau( high plain or tableland) beside Mount Kailash a giant lake of shifting colours - Lake Mansarovar.
• Brahma, the creator, had a mind (‘Man’) for the creation of a lake (‘Sarovar’), hence its name is Man-sarovar
• A pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and a bath in the Mansarovar is believed to bring about salvation (Moksha) or we can say that he/she got the door for heaven.

• Organized by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India

NATURE OF YATRA

• Involves trekking at high altitudes of up to 19,500 feet, under inhospitable conditions, including extreme cold and rugged terrain, and may prove hazardous for those who are not physically and medically fit.

 No of Batches

•  16 batches, each having  maximum 60 pilgrims, are planned to be sent between 29 May and 25 September.

Duration

• Duration of the Yatra proper will be 27 days.
• aware that yatris need to spend 3-4 days in Delhi for Chinese visa, medical examinations, etc.
• Government of Delhi will provide accommodation for the stay in Delhi.

CAUTION

• The Government of India not be responsible in any manner for any loss of life or injury to a yatri, or
• Any loss or damage to property of a yatri due to any natural calamity or due to any other reason.
• Pilgrims undertake the Yatra purely at their own volition, cost, risk and consequences.

• The Government shall not have any obligation to bring the mortal remains of any pilgrim across the border for cremation in the Indian side, in case of death on the Chinese side.
• All yatris are, therefore, required to sign a Consent Form for cremation of mortal remains on the Chinese side in case of death.

• Without prejudice to the contents of this website, all claims, disputes and differences shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts in New Delhi only.
