Indian origin scientist in UK claims a breakthrough in cancer treatment.
The Department of Radiotherapy, in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine, at Regional Cancer Center, PGIMER in Chandigarh holding a cancer awareness and early detection camp at Indira Colony on Monday between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.
According to PGI Doctor's:
PGI receives nearly 6,000 new cancer cases every year.
This figure is continuously increasing.
About 80 percent of these patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage.
At that time control of the disease by any treatment is unlikely, say PGI doctors.
This is due to a lack of awareness and poor socio-economic status of majority of the patients.
This camp organize to help the common man by providing facilities to conduct tests specially for the pre-detection of cancer.
People suffering from persistent cough, oral ulcers, indigestion, lump in the breast were examined in the camp.
